PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY

My goal is to accompany people on their journey to having a better understanding of themselves, help them find a new way of looking at problems and thus facilitate healing in situations and relationships that often prevent them from getting to where they want to be. I accomplish my job through the use of psychological techniques such as Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, and Regression Therapy. Sessions can be done online or in person.

I approach individual and couple’s consultations through narrative therapy and art therapy. For patients seeking to explore their spiritual side, and wanting to advance further in their personal journeys, I work with regression therapy. On the other hand, group workshops are designed to include different populations and different materials, dealing with themes such as violence, self-esteem, art, and femininity, among others. With each workshop, I hope that every participant undergoes a sensory experience through various artistic techniques.

I am committed to broadening my knowledge in order to offer different therapy methods so that every person who comes in for a consultation can begin their healing process through the most beneficial method for them in that moment. Some of the workshops I hold are done in collaboration with various artists in order to enhance the craft.

Working with Natalia means constantly challenging ourselves to be more empathic and to really consider long term impacts on people we want to help. She has a particular way of looking at things with such depth that goes way beyond that punctual one-to-one assistance that we normally see in MSF projects - and a bunch of other NGOs for that matter - when it comes to mental health activities. At the time we were in the same project, she was focused in children, which was a new approach in MSF. Good teacher that she is, as a manager, she involved her whole team in building up strategies and structuring activities, providing them the confidence they needed to break through and deliver a high quality assistance. As a colleague, it was a pleasure to count on her to share and discuss ideas, finding ways to put our teams to work together, as she is truly a team player and spares no energy to see the project succeeding.

Natalia brought to our team a new approach to mental health that back then was not yet given the relevance it needed. She worked hard to develop the necessary tools for different organizations to include mental health as their core activity and to ensure financing for a topic that was still overseen. She has certainly lead mental health efforts in the different regions and organizations she has joined showing great expertise on the topic.

Natalia is a triple threat professionally: she loves and does an amazing job in the field, she translates that emphatic display of field work into deep and useful insights through reporting and during those things, she is also one of the most incredible persons that ever walked the earth.

When you work with her, you get to know what a truly caring person looks like. She is no joke when we talk about honest humanitarian persons.

I admire the way she keeps learning constantly and achieving a mix of theory with true hardcore on-field-helping-people that brings tons of value to international organizations.

If you’re about to work with her, braise yourself to be amazed and to up your game a lot to match her energy and professionalism.

Nathalia Huerta worked with me back in 2018, during a very hard MSF mission in a detention center for asylum seekers and refugees. I was one of the psychiatrists there and she was one of the psychologists. When Nathalia arrived, it was an important moment because she became a great partner, sharing her expertise and affection with everyone in the team. She trully helped me in keeping up with that hard work.
